The pair were rumoured to be beefing earlier this year, before enjoying a summer “mini-break” together in Paris

Madonna has announced a new collaboration with Charli XCX – check out a snippet of ‘Danceteria Afterhours’ below.

The Queen Of Pop has reworked ‘Danceteria’ from her recent album ‘Confessions II’ with the ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ singer. A preview video of the forthcoming team-up sees the pair dancing in a white studio space, with Madonna asking: “You wanna talk about Madonna and Charli?”

She then repeats the duo’s names and delivers a line from the original song: “Everyone here is a work of art.” Charli also trades vocals with Madge, who is wearing a red hoodie featuring a photo of herself in the ’80s. “Let’s take it to the East side baby…,” the caption of the post reads.

Madonna has confirmed that ‘Danceteria Afterhours’ with Charli XCX will be out next Thursday (September 24).

The news of Madonna’s next collab comes on the heels of her joining forces with Kylie Minogue on ‘Love Sensation (Afterhours Mix)’. Fans are now speculating that a full ‘Confessions II’ remix album could be in the works, similar to Charli’s guest-heavy ‘Brat’ reimagining.

Madonna shared a TikTok last week of herself in a taxi, along with the caption: “Thinking about Charli…” In the comments section, the ‘Wink Wink’ artist replied: “Wait… I got something I wanna talk about…”, referencing ‘Confessions II’.

Over the summer, Charli spoke about her relationship with Madonna, saying the pair had enjoyed “a mini-break together, essentially” in Paris. At the time, Charli denied that she had worked on a new song with Madonna when asked by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Nick Grimshaw.

“We’ve met before in the past but I don’t know that she knows that – but we were put together on a group text just a couple of weeks ago, which is obviously insane,” she told the host.

This ended rumours of there being beef between the two artists, which began when Madonna referenced Charli’s lyric “the dancefloor is dead” from her single ‘Rock Music’. “If your dance floor feels dead, maybe you’re playing the wrong music,” she wrote on social media.

However, the duo were later spotted together in Paris. Speaking further about the experience, Charli recalled: “We actually accidentally threw two parties. She’s very like… I mean, she’s so cool. And she is so interested in really talking about the music that she makes, and how and why, and I found it very inspiring to hang out with her.”

Charli also admitted that she wasn’t necessarily a Madonna fan when she was younger, but came to appreciate her work more deeply as she grew older.

“I think when I became a bit more interested in how music is art and artful – I think that’s when I began my Madonna time,” she went on. “My first big song that I fell in love with of hers was ‘Hollywood’. That song really hit me in a way.”

Charli is currently out on the North American leg of her ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ tour, following her headline sets at Reading & Leeds last month. The trek kicked off on September 11 in Philadelphia, where she played the surprise track ‘Stay Away’ from her 2013 debut album ‘True Romance’.

She’ll head to the UK and Europe in February for a run of arena dates, including two shows at The O2 in London. You can find any remaining tickets here.

Shortly after announcing the tour, Charli told fans why there were only a limited number of gigs on the run, explaining that “touring is really emotionally and physically hard for me”.

Meanwhile, Madonna is set to perform at the MTV VMAs next week, marking her first live appearance at the ceremony in 23 years. She leads the way with the most nominations this year, having earned 11 (including Video Of The Year for the star-studded Confessions II – The Film).
