On Saturday, April 18, Bieber played a throwback video of himself singing Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” during his Coachella set
Two famous Justins are showing love for one another.
During Justin Bieber’s headlining set at Coachella on Saturday, April 18, the singer-songwriter played a video of his pre-fame self covering Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” and sang along with the audience.
In response, Timberlake, 45, shared a throwback video of himself interacting with a young and excited Bieber, 32. In the video, the person behind the camera captured a brief interaction between Timberlake and Bieber ā and then got them posing for a photo together. Bieber’s former longtime manager Scooter Braun and Timberlake’s wife Jessica Biel were also in the room.
On the next slide, Timberlake shared a clip from Bieber’s performance of “Cry Me a River” at Coachella.
“I grew up listening to Justin Timberlake and so many other beautiful talents but I remember this like it was yesterday,” he said as the crowd cheered.
Then, Bieber noted that the guitar was “out of tune” but he sang along with his younger self.
“I know this has been a long road. And I know it’s not always a smooth ride. I’m proud of you – and you should be proud of you too. Sending love @lilbieber šš»,” Timberlake captioned the post.
Timberlake and Bieber have not released music together. In 2021, however, DJ Khaled revealed he missed a FaceTime call from Timberlake and Bieber and shared screenshots on social media. He then said he was in the process of mixing their vocals ā but the song was never released.
“I’m so stressed out in a good way mixing and mastering this album I missed the legendary FaceTime of the ICONS @justinbieber and @justintimberlake,” he wrote at the time.
DJ Khaled added, “My brothers I’m gonna call you back! I’m mixing BOTH of y’all’s VOCALS!” Khaled added. “@justinbieber I just got done with the mix a few days ago get ready for mastering! And @justintimberlake I just sent the record we did together off to mix. My brothers I will call you RIGHT BACK! I’m in ALBUM MODE !!!! #99% DONE. KHALED KHALED THE ALBUM COMING.”

Also during his Coachella Weekend 2 set, Bieber was joined by an array of special guests ā including Billie Eilish, a self-proclaimed super fan, who joined Bieber on stage for āOne Less Lonely Girl,” and SZA, who sang āSnoozeā with the pop star.
Bieber also brought out Sexyy Red for a duet of “Sweet Spot” and Big Sean to perform “As Long as You Love Me” and “No Pressure.”
