Lipa’s three-day extravaganza commenced with a sartorial triumph – a halterneck gown with a plunging back and an ostrich feather skirt
The first big celebrity wedding of the year is well and truly underway, with pop star Dua Lipa and actor Callum Turner celebrating their nuptials in a three-day extravaganza in Palermo, Sicily, this weekend.
Unsurprisingly, considering the fashion nous of the couple, things have got off to a suitably stylish start.
Last week’s Old Marylebone Town Hall civil ceremony saw the bride wearing a custom Schiaparelli skirt suit and hat inspired by Bianca Jagger, with the groom wearing a navy-on-navy Bottega Veneta suit.
And now, for the welcome party in Palermo, they’ve kicked things up another sartorial notch.
In photographs from the beach celebration, the newlyweds exude Italian glamour and sex appeal, with Lipa wearing a floor-length, halterneck leather dress with feather skirt detail, designed by Bottega Veneta, with a matching custom Andiamo bag from the same brand.
Her husband, meanwhile, looks sharp and James Bond-esque as ever (he’s reportedly a frontrunner for the role), in a cream-coloured linen suit reportedly by Jacquemus, accessorised with retro Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses.
The 30-year-old pop star’s choice of dress is no surprise, as she’s been seen wearing the Italian fashion house on countless occasions, and is often snapped carrying its unmistakable green shopping bags after a spree.
The dress was custom-made for her by British designer Louise Trotter, who heads up Bottega Veneta, and featured the same fibreglass beading details as seen on the spring/summer 2026 runway.
The main body of the dress is made of woven leather, an homage to one of Lipa’s favourite handbags from the brand, the Intrecciato, which she has in the tote, cross-body and clutch style.
As an ambassador for jewellery house Bulgari, she also wore a Serpenti necklace and bracelet, plus the Tubogas Manchette watch, with the high glamour of the pieces perfectly in tune with the rest of her look.
Turner’s choice of designer for his suit also makes sense, as Lipa is close friends with Jacquemus, and even attended his 2022 wedding in the South of France.
The actor has a strong relationship with Louis Vuitton, for whom he is an ambassador, so it feels likely he will wear the brand for the nuptials themselves, expected to take place on Saturday.
All eyes will be on social media this weekend as fans of the couple wait to see what else they wear, including, most importantly, what Lipa’s actual wedding dress will be like.
If her past choices are anything to go by, it will be dramatic, sexy and chic, with fashion pundits betting it will be by Versace or Jacquemus (or perhaps one of each). Donatella Versace was seen posing with Dua Lipa at Friday evening’s soirée.
The couple first met in 2024, after being introduced at The River Cafe by its head chef, Ruthie Rogers.
They ran into each other again months later, when they discovered they were reading the same book, as Turner told The Sunday Times last year: “I had just finished the first chapter and I told her and she looked at me and said, ‘I just finished the first chapter too.’”
His comeback? “So we are on the same page?”
And in a perhaps unintentional sweet nod to their meet-cute, there was a library of books in the outdoor bar at their welcome party in Palermo.
