Daryl Hall has provided a promising update on his health after undergoing a kidney transplant.
In a statement posted on social media on June 23rd, the Hall & Oates co-founder shared that he had recently received a kidney from a “living donor”.
“Hi everybody!” the statement began. Hall added, “I thought you should know that I recently received a kidney transplant from a very kind and generous living donor.”
Hall had ensured some time had passed before he shared the update with his fans. He revealed, “It happened a couple of weeks ago, and I’m already starting to feel better. It was, according to my doctors, a complete success!”
What’s more, the musician promised that he should be “back to normal” in a few months’ time, after allowing for the proper healing time.
Excitedly, the 79-year-old concluded, “So get ready for more music and lots of Daryl’s House shows. You all take care!”
Hall’s last studio album, D, was released in 2024. Fans can expect more music from the iconic hitmaker, but, from now on, it’ll only be of the solo kind.
In 2023, Hall and John Oates announced that they would no longer perform together due to a legal battle over their publishing rights. Previously, their career had been celebrated through induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
Previously, Oates discussed the end of their 50-year partnership, confirming that they were no longer friends. He shared, “As time went on, as we both got older and our life experiences changed, our relationships changed, then we started to not have the same goals anymore. That’s really what happened.”
Hall’s most recent live performance took place last August at the Minnesota State Fair, where he opened with his single ‘The Whole World’s Better’, and closed out with the Hall & Oates song, ‘You Make My Dreams’.
