Anne Hathaway is closing out a very iconic press tour in a very Runway way.
For the past month, the actress, 43, has been living in a fashion fantasy on the worldwide press tour for The Devil Wears Prada 2. But all good things must come to an end, and with the film officially hitting theaters on Friday, May 1 (yes, right before the 2026 Met Gala on Monday, May 4), it’s time to say goodbye to this era of Hathaway.
Hathaway was recently seen stopping by The Jimmy Fallon Show and wearing the kelly green, cheetah print-trimmed coat she first wore in the original Devil Wears Prada in 2006 as Andy Sachs (for context, the fierce look is one of many ensembles featured in the famous montage accompanying Andy’s dramatic makeover).

The 20-year-old rewear was certainly planned, according to Hathaway’s stylist, Erin Walsh. “Annie wanted to wrap the tour up with this nod to the film,” she said, per Vogue. “Since it was the last moment of the tour, it felt like such a special piece.” The coat, she added, was not rented or on loan either; Walsh revealed that it’s Hathaway who actually bought the coat on auction.
The look was originally sourced by costumer Patricia Field, who told Entertainment Weekly in 2016, “For me, the success of the clothing is not only that it looks good, but it has to tell the story. So when she’s walking in these streets that are gray and gritty, she popped.”
Walsh styled the piece slightly differently from the look we all know and love. There were no gloves or big purse, but the oversized glasses were another nice nod to the first costume.
There haven’t been many style references as direct as this one throughout the press tour, but there sure have been a lot of nods with elements of nostalgia.
In early April, she underwent a not-so-subtle hair transformation with the addition of Andy-coded bangs to her signature brunette locks. At the New York City premiere on April 20, she also paid homage to the TDWP aesthetic in a bold red custom Louis Vuitton gown by Nicolas Ghesquière.
Hathaway is among the four stars reprising their roles in the sequel. In addition to her, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci stepped back into the shoes of their beloved Runway characters, Miranda, Emily and Nigel, respectively.

In her PEOPLE World’s Most Beautiful cover story, Hathaway opened up about what it meant for her to return to the franchise two decades later.
“I loved making the first. I know I was stressed and anxious and all those things, but it’s one of the most hilarious experiences ever because of the people I was with.”
She added of her castmates, “Emily Blunt is such a dream of a human being. Stanley is so funny and quick, and Meryl, I don’t talk about how much I revere her to her, but I do. She’s someone I admire. Someone who defines how it’s done. Somebody who is just living greatness and never rests on that laurel but is always pushing herself to expand as an artist. She’s unbelievable.”
