BAFTA Games Awards Crowns ‘Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’ Game Of The Year

Time to don your best beret. Sandfall and Kepler Interactive’s French action adventure game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 staked claim on the Best Game prize at the 22nd BAFTA Games Awards, which were handed out Friday at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in the South Bank of London.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 also garnered a win for Debut Game and Performer in a Leading Role for Jennifer English, who plays Maelle. Clair Obscur: Expedition came into the ceremony with 12 total nominations, followed by Dispatch with nine, Ghost of Yōtei with eight, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach with seven and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle with six.

Other winners included Death Stranding 2 for Artistic Achievement, Ghost of Yōtei for Technical Achievement and Music, No Man’s Sky for Evolving Game, Lego Party! for Family Game, South of Midnight for New Intellectual Property and Atomfall for British Game. Jeffrey Wright also won Performer in a Supporting Role for his role as Chase in Dispatch.

Presenters included Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox, who was also nominated for his role as Gustave in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, for the Multiplayer category, and House of the Dragon’s Abubakar Salim gave out the award for Animation. Prolific James Bond film composer David Arnold presented the award for Music along with exclusively debuting the title song for the upcoming IO Interactive’s 007: First Light video game sung by Lana Del Rey. The leads of Resident Evil Requiem Angela Sant’Albano and Nick Apostolides presented the award for Performer in a Supporting Role, and The Walking Dead’s Lennie James for Performer in a Leading Role.

The show also featured a special live performance of “Stay the Night” from Talia Mar.
