Ella Langley has made chart history as “Choosin’ Texas” spent its 12th consecutive week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, joining an elite group of only 25 songs to achieve this milestone since the chart launched in August 1958, Billboard reports.
The track, which first reached the top spot in February, marks a significant achievement for country music, accoridng to the outlet. Among the five songs by solo female artists without male-billed collaborators to reach the 12-week threshold, “Choosin’ Texas” stands as the only one by an artist known primarily for country music.
During the tracking week of June 26 to July 2, the single earned 25.8 million official streams in the United States, generated 49.7 million radio airplay audience impressions and sold 9,000 copies, according to Billboard.
Langley’s chart performance extends beyond the Hot 100. The song has led the “Streaming Songs” chart for 13 weeks and the “Digital Song Sales” chart for 11 weeks. It has topped the Hot Country Songs chart for 30 weeks and the Songs of the Summer chart for five weeks.
Langley currently holds three simultaneous positions in the top 10 of the Hot 100, Billboard noted. “Be Her” remained at number three, while “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” featuring Morgan Wallen, climbed to a new peak at number six. This marks the sixth week this year Langley has achieved three concurrent top 10 hits, a feat she has accomplished more often than all other acts combined during the same period.
Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” held at number two after spending two weeks at number one in June. Drake’s “Janice STFU” rose to number four and continued its seventh week atop both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts. Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” moved up to number five.
Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might” returned to the top 10 at number 10. The former chart-topper led the Radio Songs chart for a 20th week, becoming only the fourth song to reach that airplay milestone since the chart began in 1990. The track also spent its 25th week at number one on the Hot R&B Songs chart.
Ariana Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me” remained at number seven. Tame Impala and JENNIE reached a new peak at number eight with “Dracula,” which also leads the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs charts. Olivia Rodrigo’s former number one “Drop Dead” fell to number nine.
