The most recent addition to the Sony Music Publishing lineup is Odeal.
A few weeks after the release of his album The Fall That Saved Me, the British-Nigerian singer and composer announced today, December 8, that he has signed a global contract with the renowned music publisher.
“Signing Odeal was not just an economic decision. According to a statement from Sony Music Publishing senior director, creative A&R Shauni Caballero, “it was the logical next step in a relationship built on passion, respect, and a shared vision.” “His talent and the amazing team that supports him—Charles, Hanz, AB, and the OVMBR family—have always impressed me. They are incredibly motivating, diligent, and a joy to work with. I sincerely appreciate being a part of their history and development.
In 2024, Odeal gained popularity thanks to the viral song “Soh-Soh,” which served as a springboard to the awards circuit. He has won MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards for best R&B act and best newcomer this year alone. He has also been nominated for Billboard’s 2025 African Rookie of the Year, shortlisted for the BET Awards’ first-ever best new international act, and been named a 2025 breakthrough artist on Amazon Music, a 2025 artist to watch on Spotify, and a member of YouTube Music’s 2025 Foundry program.
In the past year, he has had studio time with a number of musicians, including Kaytranada, Jermaine Dupri, Kehlani, and DJ Maphorisa, thanks to his shape-shifting sound. As a fan, Justin Bieber has shared Odeal’s music on his Instagram posts and Stories.
Regarding the Sony Music Publishing agreement, Odeal (full name: Hillary Dennis Udanoh) says, “My vision has always been to make music that touches people around the world, so choosing partners who truly believe in that vision is important to me.” Working with Shauni and a group of people I trust who sincerely believe in what I’m creating excites me.
Odeal was born in Germany, where his mother resided, and grew up in Spain, where his father resided and his parents met. At the age of 17, he moved to the United Kingdom. His self-produced single “Be Easy” launched his career, and his 2022 EP Lustropolis—which has had over 80 million plays worldwide—took it to the next level.
The Fall That Saved Me song “Miami” has received over 23 million plays worldwide and demolished Spotify’s Global Viral list.
Odeal has performed on festival venues all over the world, including Afro Nation Portugal, the largest Afrobeats festival in the world, and Wireless Festival, in addition to DJing parties during Paris Fashion Week.
