Ed Sheeran has hinted that another career break could be on the horizon as he prepares to spend more time with his young family once his latest tour comes to an end.

After performing a string of his biggest hits, the 35-year-old paused to address the crowd and revealed that he may be stepping away from music for a while after the tour wraps up later this year.

“This is gonna be my last time here in a while,” Sheeran told concertgoers, the Daily Mail reported.

“I might take some time off once this tour has ended and sort of do the dad thing. So if I don’t see you for a while, I love you, thank you for coming.”

The Grammy-winning star shares daughters Lyra, five, and Jupiter, four, with his wife Cherry Seaborn.

The couple, who married in 2019, first met while attending school together in Suffolk.

Sheeran has already spent much of 2026 on the road, kicking off the tour in New Zealand in January before heading to Australia and South America.

The North American run will continue for five months before concluding in Tampa, Florida, on November 7.

It’s not the first time the hitmaker has taken a break from music.

Sheeran stepped away in 2015 following the success of his Multiply era and later took another extended hiatus between 2019 and 2021 after completing his record-breaking Divide tour.

The comments come just weeks after the singer announced he was leaving his long-time label home after 15 years.

In a statement, Sheeran said: “This isn’t a ‘disgruntled artist leaves record label’.

“This is a boy who started as a teenager on the company with different priorities, to the father-of-two man who exists now, who feels like he needs a shift and change.”

The move surprised many in the music industry, particularly given reports that the singer had been working under one of the sector’s most lucrative recording deals.
