Love Island host Maya Jama has reportedly split from professional footballer Ruben Dias 18 months after the pair began dating
Love Island host Maya Jama and footballer Ruben Dias have split up. The duo had been dating for 18 months, but have called time on their relationship.
Maya, 31, and Ruben, 29, are said to have cut ties three weeks ago before the presenter flew to film the latest series of Celebrity Traitors. The surprise split comes after the pair first began dating in December 2024.
They met at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester a month earlier and tried to keep their link-up private at the beginning. But despite their efforts, word quickly spread and the duo confirmed they were an item shortly after.
During March-April 2025, the couple were seen together at KSI’s Baller League event in London where they appeared affectionate. This particular outing was widely covered as a public confirmation of their connection.
By May, the relationship had been made Instagram official when Maya posted snaps from a romantic holiday on the Amalfi Coast with Ruben.
After going public, they were often seen together at football matches and events. Maya was even spotted supporting the star during Portugal World Cup qualifying matches.
They had been labelled a strong couple with some followers even wondering if wedding bells were to be heard. According to reports, Maya had moved into a £4million mansion in Alderley Edge mansion with Ruben after quitting London to be closer to her man.
But now The Sun says the pair have both started to delete snaps of them both together and the duo called time on their relationship
Before dating the footballer, Maya was most publicly involved with British rapper Stormzy. Despite the pair splitting, they gave it another go in 2023, only to split again a year later.
Ruben, meanwhile, previously dated Portuguese pop singer, model and media personality April Ivy. The star, whose real name is Mariana Gonçalves, was dating the sports star between 2018-2021.
They made their relationship public in 2019 and lived together in Manchester after Ruben’s big move to Manchester City. Reports suggested they split because Dias preferred a more private, low-key life, while April Ivy had a more public lifestyle and career.
Other romantic links for Ruben included Love Island star Arabella Chi. The duo were said to have been dating between 2023 and early 2024, with social media clues suggesting the pair had a short-lived relationship.
