Selena Gomez is not here for the drama, especially when it comes to BFF Taylor Swift.
The “Calm Down” singer set the record straight about a seemingly shady remark she made following the New York Knicks triumph over the San Antonio Spurs during Game 4 of the NBA Finals, revealing that she woke up to “so many texts.”
“I would never insult my friends nor was it an insult. The comment was a reaction to the first slide on the page,” Gomez remarked.
Gomez’s comments follow a wave of speculation that she was throwing shade at Swift by commenting “lol” on a post MTV shared on Instagram of Swift and Mariska Hargitay in a tight embrace after the win.
A bona fide San Antonio Spurs fan, Gomez added that she had placed a bet with her friends on the outcome of the game.
“I lost but was poking fun at my opponents, my friends. Believe it or not I do have other friends in my life. But quickly forget that most assume otherwise,” Gomez said. “Also … It’s a basketball game.”

From Taylor Swift to Timothée Chalamet, “celebrity row” at Madison Square Garden was packed with just about any A-lister you could think of.
Notable mentions go out to Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Spike Lee, Scooter Braun and Sydney Sweeney, who were among the hundred or so stars also rooting for the Knicks courtside.
All eyes were on Swift though, as she arrived at the Garden with Haim sisters, Alana and Este, in tow.
The trio donned “punny” tees featuring names of fellow Hollywood peers that were tweaked to incorporate the Knicks; Swift’s read “Stevie Knicks,” Este’s read “Knickelback” and Alana’s read “Knickole Kidman.”
