A Take That superfan has spoken of their “heartbreak” after allegedly being struck in the face by a ball of confetti fired from a cannon during the band’s opening show at St Mary’s Stadium on Friday.
The fan, who had driven two hours and paid more than £300 for tickets, said they were “having the time of their life” when, during the band’s performance of the hit song Never Forget, they were suddenly knocked to the ground in pain.

Take That, comprising Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen, brought their latest tour to Southampton on Friday night. The show featured a host of the band’s biggest hits, elaborate staging and confetti cannons, with thousands of fans attending the stadium concert.
The fan, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Echo: “I thought somebody had launched a bottle at my face.
“It quickly became obvious that a football-sized ball of confetti had been fired out of the cannon and hit me square in the face.”
