Tomorrow, on the first Monday in May, the 2026 Met Gala will take over the Upper East Side in New York City. This weekend, ahead of the grand event, loads of top-tier stars were already spotted arriving in the city—and many of them gathered for a private pre-Met bash just last night, hosted by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez at their private NoMad apartment. Because why not have a small party before the big party?
Spotted at the intimate affair were celebrities such as Kendall and Kris Jenner, Ashley Graham, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, Law Roach, Vittoria Ceretti, and more—all of whom you can expect to see on the Met steps tomorrow. While the evening served as a pre-Met celebration, some fashion-forward looks were already on full display. Kendall Jenner, for one, arrived in a black long-sleeved dress with bowed detailing, seen along the plunging neckline and asymmetric leg slit. Turns out, it’s a vintage frock, from Thierry Mugler’s fall 1993 collection.

Jenner is no stranger to a good vintage find, of course: the model has sported many striking archival pieces over the years, from sleek John Galliano dresses to romantic Chloé slip dresses. (She also went through a big Jean Paul Gaultier mesh phase back in the day.) The question is, did her decision to wear a throwback garment serve as a pre-Met teaser? A hint of what’s to come?

Given this year’s theme—“Costume Art,” focused on how garments interact with the body—and the “fashion is art” dress code—there are plenty of vintage designer collections that Jenner could source for the Met steps to fit the bill. While we’ll have to wait and see what she wears to the Met tomorrow, one thing is for sure: Given how chic her pre-event outfit is, her day-of look is bound to be good.
