Taylor Swift is doing everything she can to turn her current single “Opalite” into the biggest hit possible, and she clearly has her eyes set on the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. “Opalite” follows the massively popular “The Fate of Ophelia,” which introduced her most recent full-length, The Life of a Showgirl.
For weeks now, Swift has been doling out new versions of “Opalite,” as well as a music video and several other visuals that have helped generate excitement around the tune. Purchases of remixes, acoustic cuts, live recordings, and more are almost always grouped together into one entity when it comes to the Billboard charts. That little trick, which many artists have used to turn a track into a smash, helps “Opalite” climb and see its sales grow dramatically.
Sales of Taylor Swift’s “Opalite” Grow Dramatically
The sharing of multiple remixes by artists such as Chris Lake, Bunt, and Ely Oaks help ensure that “Opalite” becomes a bestseller in America this week. Luminate reports that in the most recent tracking frame, Swift’s single sold 7,000 copies on platforms like Amazon and iTunes throughout America. That sum is up 300% from the period prior, when the cut sold 1,750.
“Opalite” Returns to the Digital Song Sales Chart’s Top 10
All those purchases have turned “Opalite” into a top 10 bestseller again in America. Swift’s song surges from No. 21 to No. 7 on the Digital Song Sales chart, returning to that highest tier. In the past, “Opalite” has topped out at No. 3.
“Opalite” Jumps Back Into the Top 10 on Multiple Charts
Sales of the many takes of “Opalite” aid its ascent on several of the company’s general consumption rosters. “Opalite” leaps from No. 11 to No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 while simultaneously finding its way back to the top 10 on the Billboard Global 200, as it jumps from No. 24 to No. 10.
The tune narrowly misses out on that space on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. – compiled in almost the same way as the Billboard Global 200 except sales and streams originating from American consumers are not factored into its methodology. On that tally, the smash improves to No. 11, though it has already found its way into the top 10.
“Opalite” Misses the Top Tier on the Streaming Songs Ranking

“Opalite” settles into that same spot on the Streaming Songs chart as on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. As its name suggests, that tally looks only at the most popular tunes on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others in the U.S., so a 300% uptick in sales has no effect. The release of multiple remixes, as well as a music video and other content, does generate media attention, which in turn can help a piece of music like “Opalite” perform well across all important metrics, including streams.
“Opalite” Rises on to New Highs at Pop Radio
While sales of “Opalite” may be up quite a bit from last week, it is on Billboard‘s radio rankings where the tune really stands out. As Swift continues to promote her The Life of a Showgirl single, it rises to new peaks on three different radio-focused rosters.
The smash nears the highest space on both the Pop Airplay and Adult Pop Airplay charts, coming in at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Swift does not perform nearly as well on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay tally, though the fact that “Opalite” is a top 40 success at all is notable. The song climbs to a new high point of No. 31, up four rungs.
“Opalite” Remains a Radio Smash

At the same time that “Opalite” hits new peaks on several radio tallies, the single also manages to hold at its best showing on a handful of rosters. “Opalite” jumps from No. 9 to No. 7 on the all-genre Radio Songs ranking, returning to its most impressive position. Swift’s cut remains unmoved at No. 10 on the Adult Contemporary list, the third of three pop airplay rundowns published by Billboard each week.
