Ariana Grande opens San Francisco pop-up shop ahead of Oakland concerts

Ariana Grande’s long-awaited Bay Area takeover has officially begun.

The pop singer may be kicking off her “Eternal Sunshine” tour in Oakland on Saturday, June 6, but she’s showing love to her San Francisco fans across the bay with a pop-up merchandise store.

Located at 71 Powell St., the store is still being set up and appears to be stocked with apparel, albums and other memorabilia neatly displayed on shelves and clothing racks. Items include a cream-colored “Eternal Sunshine” tote bag, a “Dangerous Woman” 10th anniversary T-shirt and brown caps that read “The Eternal Sunshine Tour ’26.”

The store, scheduled to open at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, is free to enter and will remain accessible for the duration of her Oakland Arena stay, which includes concerts on Tuesday-Wednesday, June 9-10.

Grande appears to be hosting pop-up shops in every region that she’s stopping in on the tour, with information about the addresses and hours of operation posted on her official website.

The tour marks her first in six years, following the conclusion of her work in Bay Area native Jon M Chu’s “Wicked” films. The singer stars as Glinda, a role that earned her an Oscar nomination, opposite Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba in the two-part adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical.

She last visited the region in December, alongside Chu and Erivo, for a special screening of “Wicked: For Good” at the Smith Rafael Film Center. During the subsequent Q&A discussion, moderated by San Francisco filmmaker Chris Columbus, the singer opened up about her own traumas and how they informed her portrayal of Glinda.

“There are moments where my journey has felt adjacent to Glinda’s when it comes to dealing with grief, when it comes to learning about the darker pieces of what comes with your dreams coming true,” Grande explained. “What was really useful for me when it came to actually performing and just doing the work was acknowledging those things and throwing them away.”

In 2024, between “Wicked” films, Grande released “Eternal Sunshine,” for which the tour is named.

She announced her forthcoming eighth studio album, “Petal,” in April. The record is expected to arrive on July 31, midway through her tour. Its lead single, “hate that i made you love me,” was released on Friday, May 29, accompanied days later by a fiery music video.
