Lil Nas X

Grammy-award-winning artist Lil Nas X is set to return to a Van Nuys courtroom on Monday. The appearance is tied to a 2025 incident involving the “Old Town Road” singer and officers within the Los Angeles Police Department.

Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Hill, is accused of assaulting police officers during a confrontation on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City on Aug. 21. Moments before, a cellphone video was taken of him walking in the middle of the street, wearing only underwear and cowboy boots.

LAPD told KTLA 5 they responded to the 11000 block of Ventura Boulevard at 5:50 a.m. to calls of a naked man walking in the streets. It’s unclear if the male was completely naked, as the responding officers didn’t indicate what he was or wasn’t wearing.

When officers arrived, they say the male charged at them and was taken into custody. The LA County District Attorney’s office said three officers were injured.

Police say the suspect was transported to a nearby hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for battery on a police officer.

The “Montero” rapper previously pleaded not guilty to three felony counts of battery on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest. He was released on a $75,000 bond and was ordered to attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings a week. However, his attorney maintains he was not using illegal drugs.

Hill and his attorney have requested to move the case into a diversion program, which hasn’t been specifically identified. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.
